Vogue Mexico & Japan

Both seemingly cohesive, in recognising summer beauty trends. Traditional orange and it’s under tones. If you are willing to try it, make sure your hair isn’t too dark… so the lip does not crash too hard into an unforgiving contrast.

On the other hand, the only critic I have is the use of traditionally idolised images of beauty rather than natives models for the cover of their own country’s magazine. I don’t remember seeing Japanese on the cover of vogue Japan. It goes for almost every other county too. But, I’m just saying.

Vogue Italia (plus cover)

Plus size models Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley aid a very elite version of one the most recognised fashion publications in the world remove the vague expectations of traditional beauty. All I have to say is: (imagine a pause)…where is Vogue South Africa? (Smiles). And that Vogue Italia is a respected platform that continuously voices issues in regard to social awareness and taboo topics all thanks to the reigning editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani. Using visual connotations, interpretations and humour to communicate worthy ideas in the way any mass media product should be able to. Also playing on the influential appeal of fashion.

Cover story

I appreciate innovative minds and the creators of the new age magazines have it for them. The styling is beyond me, beyond words. It could only take a face recognised with bold esteem to pull it off.

Gucci everywhere

Vogue Japan's June issue is graced by Naomi Campbell in Gucci's Fall 2011 show-closing gold dress. Also worn by Beyonce in a past issue of Lofficiel Paris. But seriously, innovation is the name of the game. Its like two ladies wearing the same dress to the same party. Great PR for Gucci, yes. But what sort of damage could that pose to a publication? I'm not saying they are any losers... I'm just saying. Being Vogue I'm sure it will bounce either unaware/concerned due to its status in the established heirachy of fashion media. The point is, do it right. Please? Homework doesn't end in high school. I just hate when an idea (a creative one, at that) is exhausted. The dress is gaspingly beautiful, but we wouldn't want over exposure deteriorating its exclusive image now would we?

What will it be? Which cover does it for you? I personally appreciate the effortless sensuality of Spain's cover, but think the team exhausted that intention by excluding any color in the headlines. I mean the grey seems to fade intoo ther background. Russia's cover hit all my spots. the romantic detail and lusty red say "you want me". Classy. I'm only expressing opinion.
